Course Overview
This nationally recognised training program provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to operate gantry, bridge, jib, or wall-mounted cranes that are controlled via pendant or wireless remote. The training focuses on cranes with three (3) or fewer powered motions, aligning with standard industry practices and safety regulations.
Course Description
The course covers the planning and safe operation of overhead and gantry cranes, including pre-operational checks, load handling, movement, and shutdown procedures. It is designed to ensure operators can perform lifting operations confidently and safely in accordance with workplace and legislative requirements.
Powered motions covered in this course include:
- Short/Cross travel – Lateral movement of the crane
- Long/Length travel – Longitudinal movement along the crane runway
- Hoisting – Raising or lowering of the load
Upon successful completion, participants will be deemed competent to operate applicable crane types with three or fewer powered motions.
Note: This course does not cover the operation of gantry or overhead cranes with four (4) or more powered motions. Operating such equipment requires a High Risk Work Licence – Class CB.
Target Audience
This course is suitable for individuals involved in lifting operations in warehousing, manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments where gantry or overhead cranes are used for material handling.
